What is mPPE?. mPPE is a modified polyphenylene ether thermoplastic. Cables made from mPPE have a smaller wall thickness than other cables due to their dielectric properties. The fact that the cables are lighter allows them to be used in many different applications. mPPE has a lower specific gravity compared to other jacket and insulation materials such as PVC and PE. This combined with the excellent dielectric properties allow the cables to be up to 65% lighter and thinner than conventional cables. How is it environmentally friendly?. If a cable is not made from materials that contain salt-forming fluorine, bromine, iodine or chlorine then it is defined as halogen-free.
