Unlike fine steel wool, these pads won’t shred during use, rust after use, or leave fine metal splinters. They’re flexible and long lasting. Use Scotch-Brite™ Ultra Fine Hand Pad 7448+ instead of fine steel wool, to condition metal surfaces and to prepare for painting. Scotch-Brite Ultra Fine pads are filled with tightly graded silicon carbide abrasive, a very sharp synthetic mineral that’s typically used for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation. The tightly graded particles deliver a consistent, uniform abrasive action for the entire lifespan of the pad and the mineral breaks down faster than aluminium oxide for a superior finish. They’re designed for ease of use, reaching into tight corners and intricate detailed surfaces, without changing the size of the base material.
